Gianfranco Alessandria, Barolo docg San Giovanni 2019

Der 2019 San Giovanni ist sehr komplex, kräftig, warm, füllend, ausdruckstark. Etwas vielschichtiger als der Basis Barolo.
In der Nase ist er noch etwas verschloßen aber dominiert von Fruchtnoten: dunkle Beeren, Zwetschgen, Brombeeren. Am Gaumen zeitg er Nerv und Druck, geprägt von Aromen von dunklen Fruchten, sowie Schokolade, Minze und Tabak.
Er braucht noch etwas Lagerzeit.

The wine is padded with extra richness and rich fruit in this vintage, and it reveals lots of aromatic detail and nuance with wild cherry, rose, crushed stone and a dab of dried mint. "The 2019 Barolo San Giovanni is the more powerful of the estate´s two Barolos. It offers up scents of moca, spice, dark cherry, plum und leather. There´s a bit more new oak too, which adds intesity as well as volume. The San Giovanni emerges from the odelst vines on the property, but I have to admit I like the straight Barolo a bit more because of its greater finesse." Antonio Galloni - Vinous
